0.21.0 upgrade broke Gemini model?

I successfully parsed a PRD yesterday with task master 0.20.0.

When I saw 0.21.0 this morning I upgraded just before starting a new project. Successfully initialized (task-master init) but couldn't parse the prd).

The error pointed to the Gemini model (2.5-pro) not being available. I have the API key which successfully worked yesterday.

Has anyone experienced this as well or is the issue with Gemini? I don't have any other API keys to point the main model to

Good catch, need to try with Gemini models.

@meierthomas, tried everything wasn't able to reproduce, any chance you can give me some steps to reproduce ? Gemini cli seems to be working well for me

Well I simply tried to parse the prd. At the moment I'm using the free version of Cursor that's why it tries to use the fallback model. I have the API key in .env. The same setup was working on Sat (with v0.20.0)

This is the entry on config.json

Any further updates? I still can't use my Gemini model - even after redoing the setup with task-master models --setup

For some reason, I wasn't able to reproduce, let me try again and see what I get.

Just to re-iterate, was that while using the mcp or the cli ?

Had another look at the installation and it looks like I've installed taskmaster both locally in the project folder and globally.

C:\Users\<user>\.cursor\mcp.json

How can I remove the local installation?

Also would you mind sharing your config.json?

Also do I enter the API key in the models section and mcp.json?

Finally I used the same API key created in AI Studio and successfully (response 200) created a call using Postman. So the message

in my case would have to mean that the API key is correct but not set in Cursor

I had enough so simply did a reinstall of task master and now it works with Gemini 2.5 Pro 😎

Yup, definitely was fixed now that we're using a dedicated package for gemini support!
