Description

Whenever claude code attempts to update task master via MCP, I am seeing

Error: Claude Code API error during object generation: Claude Code process exited with code 1
Version: 0.25.1
Name: task-master-ai

I believe this was reported before, e.g. #928, but there was a lack of reproducability. I cannot provide that either but would be happy to help debugging this. When this happens, the task update seems to get lost and I suspect that this might also be the reason why I feel that Claude never properly keeps track of status in task master.

I am using Claude through a subscription, so I am not configuring any API keys, if that gives some additional context.

I'm also getting the same error. I have tried updating the package, etc.
Claude Code is working fine so probably there's an issue with Task Master itself

@drwolfik - How do you know that PR fixes this issue? I've seen many times the Claude Code process exited with code 1 message be caused by users having an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY set in their env (including placeholder one that ships in default mcp configs and instructions).

That PR says Windows compatibility in title, this user is on macOS - I admittedly haven't looked deeply at the PR, maybe you're also fixing ANTHROPIC_API_KEY conflicts and that's why you make the statement the PR fixes it?

@ben-vargas I changed error handling from Claude Code CLI and that fixed the problem (at least for me on Windows).
Could you please take my version of the repo and test it?

I tried both the current version as well as yours and could not reproduce the problem. I am pretty sure, there was a claude update in between and I also change the way that I install task-master in between. So any of those could have resulted in that. I will keep any eye on that.

I'm on macOS and I'm still getting this error. I don't think it's a Windows-only issue
