Docker - Environment "PRESET"

Hi team,

I open this case to identify the purpose of the environment variable named "PRESET".
This variable is not mentionned in the README.md file.
On my side, I have to put a value, but I did not know what it expects :

I downloaded the "latest", so at that time : equivalent to 2.0.9 ?

Apparently : a expected value is required :

So, my question is : What I have to enter for "PRESET" environment variable. Can I enter any dummy value ?

Thanks for reporting this! You're right - the PRESET environment variable wasn't documented in the README.

I've created PR #572 to add comprehensive documentation for this variable. To answer your question:

The PRESET variable is used when generating a new map (when GENERATE_NEW_SAVE=true). It corresponds to Factorio's built-in map generation presets. You can use values like:

• default - Normal settings
• rich-resources - Resources are more abundant
• marathon - Recipes and technologies are more expensive
• death-world - Biters are more aggressive and numerous
• death-world-marathon - Combines death-world and marathon settings
• rail-world - Resources are further apart, encouraging train usage
• ribbon-world - Map height is limited for a unique challenge

If you don't specify PRESET or leave it empty, the map will be generated using the settings from your map-gen-settings.json and map-settings.json files without applying a preset.

So yes, you can leave it empty or enter any of the preset values above depending on what kind of map you want to generate.

Great thanks for your prompt reply !

I succeeded to set "blank" preset by removing the environment variable "PRESET" in the UI (On Synology).
I will check for the file map-gen-settings.json to adjust the map generation settings.

My issue can be considered as solved !
