Improve detection of input forms

I'm firefox translator.
I disabled "Copy-on-select in input elements" option,
but, when I select text in an input box(white area in center) on pontoon.mozilla.org(ex. https://pontoon.mozilla.org/ko/amo/all-resources/?string=66618), it is automatically copied.

Please fix it.

Thanks for your precise bug report.

I think this happens because your input field isn't actually an <input> HTML element (to which the "Copy-on-select in input elements" option relates), but rather a <div role="textbox"> HTML element. You can see that when you right-click on the element and select "Inspect", like done in the following screenshot:

The point here is: Firefox requires extra steps to copy from real <input> HTML elements, and if you configure the "Copy-on-select in input elements" option, this extension executes these extra steps. So I actively enable something. For your use case I would need to extend the logic and actively disable copy-on-select on such special divs.

Just curious: Why don't you want to copy-on-select in these input fields? What is your use case here?

The auto copy feature of the discontinued 'Swift Selection Search' extension worked well in this case, so the feature was requested.

Just to clarify: You mean the following sequence of steps is problematic:

• Copy text foo from some other source to the clipboard with the intention to paste it into an input field available in FF.
• Go to the target input field and select its current context, say bar, with the intention to replace it with the previously selected foo from the clipboard.
• However, due to this extension and this issue, selecting bar overwrites the foo contained in your clipboard. As a result a following paste just replaces bar with bar in the input field instead of the expected foo.
