Description
Dear contributor to Notepad,
Thank you to all contributors for your selfless work and open-source contributions, which have made a significant impact on the Android mobile app community.
I am a researcher from the University of Toronto studying CI/CD adoption. My current research focuses on how adopting CI/CD can improve project success and lead to more activity for apps on the Google Play Store.
We recently studied 246 active GitHub repositories with apps on the Google Play Store, including yours. Of these, 72% (177/246) have adopted CI/CD. Most projects didn’t use CI/CD at the start, so we compared developer activity before and after adoption. On average, monthly commits went up by 32%, pull requests opened by 300%, and pull requests merged by 240%. PRs also took about 62% days longer to merge, which seems to be linked to more careful code review. In short, CI/CD appears to make developers more active overall, even though merge times increase slightly because reviews are more rigorous.
I am very curious about your project’s plans. Do you intend to adopt CI/CD in the future, or are you not considering it? If possible, could you share the reasons behind your decision? This would greatly help me better understand developers’ perspectives on CI/CD in my future research.
Thank you very much for your time and help.
Best regards,
