Problem about `dev/char-index.mjs`

When I trying to run dev/char-index.mjs, it ends with RangeError: Invalid string length. is that matter? if so, what should I do for fixing?

maybe we need more JSON for storing definitions? or should we use stream?

Yes, that's because .jscrewit.char-map.json eventually exceeds the maximum string length of $2^{29}-24$ characters in V8. Probably it's sufficient to generate replacements only for characters up to U+00FF, since other characters are not used in definitions. Other options are removing whitespace from the formatted JSON, compressing the replacement strings, or using a JSON encoder that supports streaming.

I think using a JSON encoder that supports streaming would be the best way (I'm trying to create definitions with Number.prototype.toLocaleString() for IE11 in win7 and 8, and characters up to U+00FF would not be enough). Which files should we modify? if additional third party lib is needed, what should we do?

Sorry for the late reply. jQuery 4 has been released and now Android Stock Browser and Internet Explorer 9 and 10 are no longer supported. I'm currently working on JScrewIt to remove compatibility with those browsers, which will also eliminate a number of related features and definitions. Once that change is done, the solution book may shrink enough to fall back under the size limit.
