Side Buttons

Has anyone looked into using the side buttons of the board to change plugins as to avoid the need of the web ui?

I would also like to have the Button option but to switch the displayed calendar Month/page for an ammount of time (for example 1 min).
For example, 3 switches, -1 Month, (or whatever selected to diplay), actuall Month, +1 Month.
I'm using the Inky Impression 13.3” 2025 Edition, which has allready Buttons. I would use them ore something else, like capacitive Touch areas for switching.

i would have the usecase for:
one button school hour table kid 1, then same for kid 2,... then one family calendar, some artwork :), grocery list

can quite easily use the buttons to send some requests to the system.

took me about 2 hours on chat GPT to get it all set up and working

If we're talking buttons, how about a full touch digitizer in front of the EPD?

If this is feasible we can interact with the screen like swiping to next image (photo gallery) or add calendar/todo items.

Please bear in mind the response time of the E-Ink display
– swiping is out of the question. The Romans were faster with their clay tablets.

Hey mate, you are aware that there’s about a 30 second entire screen update for every time the screen updates?

Using this display to edit text would be an absolute nightmare

It's really that bad?
I know spectre is slow compared to kaleido, but that's a big difference.
Wish it was possible.
Perhaps by adding a fast b/w epd below it?

I kinda want EPD cause of the paper like display with photos and matte look.
My wife wants a SkyLight Calendar, but that's hard to get here.
I guess adding items through phone doesn't hurt that bad.

Fatihak has done a great job, creating add ins is very easy, I made on that uses a sports API to show the football results
