Easiest way to let Filament users edit extra field?

I like that Filament ships own separate users per default.
I want to add one extra field that the user should be able to edit.

What is the easiest way to achieve that?

I know that I can make Laravel users also Filament users but then I have to manually replicate that you can only edit your own settings.

What I tried instead: Copied the Filament User migration, model and Filament resource from /vendor to app and re-run migration. But that did not work.

How should I approach this?
