FAQ
Do existing Allocators need to reapply?
Yes, all pathways must reapply. Unapproved Round 5 pathways may be sunset after July 11, 2025.
Are new manual diligence pathways being onboarded at this time?
Yes, improved tooling and staffing now support more manual diligence pathways.
Can I apply for both Manual and Experimental pathways?
Yes, submit separate applications for each distinct pathway.
Is there a limit on the number of Manual pathways that will be accepted?
No maximum limit at this time.
Can I reapply if my refresh request (audit) was rejected for non-compliance in Round 5?
Yes, but you must address the issues that led to rejection.
Should I reapply with the same address if I'm a continuing Allocator?
Yes, this updated application links to your prior history and reputation.
What if I’m operating Manual distributions but applied as Automated in Round 5?
Reapply as a Manual pathway. Submit Experimental Pathway applications for developing automated processes.
Can I reapply if my pathway was removed for inactivity in Round 5?
Yes, if your team is ready to distribute DataCap (within Q3 of 2025).
What if I want to switch from an Experimental to a Manual pathway?
Notify EPMA admins with justification and submit a new Manual Diligence application.
How are Manual applications evaluated?
Applications are assessed for quality, completeness, and accuracy. Allocators must be business-ready with defined diligence processes.
Will my existing DataCap roll forward?
Yes, DataCap bookmarked on the MetaAllocator will carry over. Additional DataCap is granted during the next refresh request (audit).
What if I miss the 6-week window?
Round 6 transitions to rolling applications after July 11, allowing high-quality pathways to onboard as they complete the application.
Can an organization run multiple pathways?
Yes, submit distinct specialized pathways with minimal overlap, accounting for any overlap in advance.
Will Refresh allocations follow the doubling model (5PiB > 10PiB > 20PiB)?
Yes, unless a governance proposal changes this.
Can the Filecoin Foundation create my Multisig?
Yes, but this may delay onboarding.
Can I apply now and onboard clients later in 2025?
Applicants must be business-ready. Inactive pathways with no activity in Q3 of 2025 may lose DataCap.
Do I need to resubmit if I applied before May 28, 2025?
Yes, previous applications do not carry over. Use this updated application process.
Can I verify retrieval without Spark?
Spark remains the primary retrieval testing method. Non-Spark methods may delay approval or cause audit issues.
