"expected string or buffer" Error while uploading image via the admin interface

I am using django_filepicker.models.FPFileField() model field. When I upload image and hit save I get the following error: [Full Traceback]

I ran into this error as well. You need to make sure //api.filepicker.io/v1/filepicker.js is included in the page somewhere, and this is most easily done by using the FPFileWidget.
Add the following to your PlaceAdmin class:

formfield_overrides = {
    FPFileField: {'widget': FPFileWidget},
}

Currently, a FPFileField doesn't automatically appear as a FPFileWidget in the admin. It appears as an admin.widgets.AdminFileWidget, which handles uploads differently (it expects to find file data in request.FILES).
Perhaps FPFileWidget could be made the default admin widget for FPFileField?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on this. Just for the sake of others' Googling, this issue presented itself for our project as AttributeError: 'InMemoryUploadedFile' object has no attribute 'startswith' using version 0.1.5. I had to override the widget's field using a custom form rather than formfield_overrides, but otherwise it was a painless fix.
