What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

My proposal is the addition of subfolder menus would benefit users by providing instant access to folder contents via a pop-up hierarchical menu that appears when a button that appears on the folder or zip icon is clicked.

When the user hover the mouse over a folder or zip file, a small button appears, and the user should be able to access the subfolder menu by clicking a form of button on the icon.

These subfolder menus could also be drop targets: the user should be able to drop files onto the menu and its contents. When you drag and hover over a folder icon, the subfolder menu appears after a while, allowing you to drop, move, or copy files to any subfolder within the folder.

The menu items in the subfolder menu could also serve as a drag source: the user could start dragging a file and drop it to another folder in the menu.

Requirements

  • Implement a pop-up hierarchical subfolder menu feature accessible via a button on folder and zip icons.
  • Enable the appearance of a small button upon mouse hover over a folder or zip file icon.
  • Allow users to access the subfolder menu by clicking the button on the icon.
  • Enable subfolder menus to function as drop targets, allowing users to drop files onto them.
  • Implement the display of subfolder menus after a brief hover delay when dragging files over folder icons.
  • Enable users to drag files from the subfolder menu and drop them into other folders within the menu.
  • Ensure smooth functionality for drag-and-drop operations within the subfolder menu.

Comments

I'd like to incorporate the QTTabBar Subfolder Menu feature into this Files application because it allows for faster access to folders and zips; I've been using it on a daily basis for this purpose, and having this feature would be extremely beneficial to both me and the users. Something like this:
