Feature: Option to enable the default Windows context menu / Support for Nilesoft Shell

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

It would be really nice to have an option to enable the default Windows context menu. The one that Files has is slow, for me it takes like 1 second to load. I use Nilesoft Shell, which is faster, I can customize more and also looks cleaner.

Requirements

• Support for the default Windows 11 context menu
• Or what the default context menu is, like Nilesoft Shell

Files doesn't have any support for Nilesoft shell due to using an entirely different UI framework.
Please reach out to the Nilesoft Shell development team if you would like an integration.

As for using the default context menu, this is not possible - Files uses an entirely different, custom implementation.

Thanks so much for your feedback! Nilesoft is mainly designed for File Explorer, so it would require quite a bit of effort on their side to integrate with Files. This is especially true for features like changing the layout, and the rename option, which are specific to Files. We’d love to chat with the Nilesoft team if they’re up for exploring this idea further. For now, though, this isn’t something either app supports.
