Feature: Thumbnails for videos and pictures in list view

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

I have show thumbnails on but it appears to only show what photo or video it is in the right side bar or in an extremely large size.

Would be awesome to have the images and videos cover image show up in list view even in miniature size to make it easier to see visually.

Requirements

• This proposal will accomplish easy visual discovery of creative assets
• This proposal will accomplish add a function that doesn't exist at all in Microsoft file explorer yet giving you yet another unique value prop
• This proposal will accomplish quality of life improvement for users.

Thank you for your feedback. Our current design is based on File Explorer's behavior which displays thumbnails only for larger sizes, (except in the Recent Files widget which uses thumbnails). This approach ensures consistency with File Explorer’s thumbnail generation process and reduces potential issues, such as black backgrounds on folder icons etc.

I see - i'll forward the feedback to Imcrosoft instead then - ultimately Im formerly a macOS user so im used to being able to see the thumbnail. Thanks again!

Ideally it would be an option, but we find that it works best to follow File Explorer when it comes to thumbnails.

Totally understand that - I think you’ve made an incredible app. One other bug. I collapsed the left side bar navigation to just the favicons but now I can’t expand it open again. I see the toggle to latch on an do it but there’s no response when I click drag. Unsure if it’s just me On my surface pro x experiencing this bug. You can expand the sidebar by double tapping the gripper.
