Feature: Add git support for GitLab

Description

Cloning any URL other than github.com does not work.

For example: https://gitlab.com/es-de/emulationstation-de.git

It should not matter where the repository is located.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Open command pallete
2. Select clone git repo
3. Paste https://gitlab.com/es-de/emulationstation-de.git
4. The clone button is grayed out

Thanks for the feedback, Files has only ever had support for GitHub. Changed to feature request for GitLab support

It should be pretty straightforward to support other sources, however we'll need to test each one to make sure it works properly before enabling.

Why does it matter what the source is? The cloning is the same regardless of the source/URL.
I am not requesting GitLab support, but to be able to clone from any URL (for example: https://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/libreoffice/core.git)

Support for urls ending in .git should be pretty simple, but we also have custom logic to allow cloning based on the repo url github.com/username/repo.

Upon further investigation, gitlab requires authentication for cloning repos.

I don't understand what authentication are you referring to?

I just cloned git clone https://gitlab.com/es-de/emulationstation-de.git fine, with no authentication.

No, default cloning is via HTTPS, as the URL shows, it does not use SSH.
