Feature: Retreat to the parent folder of the file.

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

When I use the undo function, it doesn't go back to the parent folder of the file. Instead, it only goes back to the position where I clicked the mouse.

Thanks for the feedback, if your clicking the back button then this is intended. If you want to go to the parent folder you need you need to click up arrow button (Alt + up arrow)

The shortcut keys can't be set to the side buttons of the mouse. Many mouse designs have side buttons for forward and back functions because they are used so frequently. Such high - frequency operations shouldn't require a combination of keys.

Two keys is the smallest possible without causing issues, you can change them in Files settings > Actions > Navigate up one directory.
There is nothing Files can do if your mouse doesn't support changing what the buttons do, but support for adding mouse buttons to actions is being tracked in #15151
