[doubt] onTokenRefresh

-I register my users when they login and save the token in my database.
-At some point the saved token no longer works.

My user has not made any of these suggestions in the firebase documentation

- The app deletes Instance ID
- The app is restored on a new device
- The user uninstalls / reinstall the app
- The user clears app data

So my question is, at what point could the token be changed.

Now I want to use OntokenRefresh, but I want to know if that also works when the application is closed, because in the documentation it says that only when it is open.
