Connecting first time with out the app?

I want to avoid the firmware update on my Tapo 110, so I thought I could use this from the beginning. But I can't figure out how to do so,

• block the devices from reaching the internet so they dont get a firmware update
• check your dhcp (router) for the given ip address to the tapo device in question
