Can't sign in

After doing a fresh install of im.riot.Riot, when I try to sign in with my account at matrix.org, it opens up a tab in my default browser (Firefox), then when I try to sign in with my username and password, I'm taking to the following screen in the browser:

Clicking Continue, nothing happens. I have tried uninstalling the flatpak with --delete-data and reinstalling, same issue persists.

Have you checked that you run the latest version of the flatpak? We added the missing protocol handler recently:

im.riot.Riot/im.riot.Riot.desktop

Also, have you checked that firefox does your protocol handling as expected? It requires multiple parties to play along with each other.

Finally: I noticed that this doesn't seem to support profiles for Element, so make sure you use the default profile.

I am on the latest flathub version which is 1.11.100. Does that version contain the commit 1bd1362 that you mentioned? I'm not sure how to determine that.

Also, have you checked that firefox does your protocol handling as expected? It requires multiple parties to play along with each other.

I'm not sure but I did try two different browsers (Firefox and Gnome Web aka Epiphany) and experienced the same issue.

Yes the version does contain the commit. I'm currently not sure why it doesn't work then .-.

I installed recently, the Element app moved on to an endless spinner after clicking that Continue button, it seemed much like nothing happened - but I quit and relaunched the Element app and found myself properly logged in. (I first just closed the window and tried to relaunch which just opened the same stuck window, then I quit from the systray which was the wise move.)

Same here. I'm on latest version and it is totally useless now, because unable to sign in. Browser is not able to find the default app to open after the OAuth sign in.

It turns out I had to add

[Default Applications]
x-scheme-handler/io.element.desktop=im.riot.Riot.desktop

[Added Associations]
x-scheme-handler/io.element.desktop=im.riot.Riot.desktop

to ~/.config/mimeapps.list.

I'm not sure why it's not added to the mimeapps.list when I install the app from Flathub.

Unfortunately, this did not solve the issue for me.
