Still confused about profiles

I've read the documentation, and read some of the explanations, I tried to setup another profile, but still don't see how this works. Maybe if I explain what I'd like to do.

I want to sync my personal bookmarks to my work machine, but I want to exclude certain folders, while still having everything else sync. Is this possible using the profiles feature, and how would I go about that?

Currently it's not really possible to exclude folders from a profile. You can only exclude folders that are synced by other profiles by disabling the nested sync setting.

You could for example do

/ Bookmarks toolbar -> Sync this with profile A
/ Some bookmarks
/ some other folder
/ Work folder -> Sync this with Profile B

or

/ Bookmarks toolbar -> Sync this with profile A
/ Some work bookmarks
/ some other work folder
/ Private bookmarks folder -> Sync this with Profile B, exclude this from profile A
