Older versions of Fluentd - specifically 1.16

I noticed that this plugin requires Ruby 3.2 or higher. Whats the advice for older versions of Fluentd that cannot be immediately upgraded? For us (due to the way we deploy and legacy code) an OS upgrade is required for Ruby 3.2 support.

This across 10,000s of hosts is doable and planned but not in the immediate future. However we would like to deploy this plugin to integrate with Otel collectors.

THe alternative was to use the forward output but otel forward receiver does not support TLS which is a blocker for us. For reference Ive also raised this

This plugin is being developed as a feature of Fluent Package v6.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to properly support older versions of Fluentd,
as doing so would make it difficult to maintain our current development efforts.

We recommend upgrading to Fluent Package v6 if possible.
