TL;DR
What: A half-day tutorial on how to use Flux and engage with our community Who:@trws, @milroy, @vsoch, @wihobbs, and anyone interested in Flux! When: 2:00-6:00PM on Friday, June 13th, 2025 Where: ISC 2025 in Hamburg, Germany How to Register: Go to the ISC website and buy the Tutorial Pass.
What to Expect
An overview of the Flux framework. We’ll talk about the framework projects that are central to users and how they work together.
Hands-on activities to get you familiar with Flux. We’ll go through the job submission command line interface and Python API so you feel comfortable interacting with Flux in multiple ways. We'll also go over Flux modules like the key-value store and scheduler.
Opportunities to engage with Flux developers and researchers. We’re committed to providing an open forum for you to ask questions and engage with us on how Flux can help in your workflows.
A deeper dive into how to contribute to the Flux community. We want to engage our attendees both during and after the tutorial, so we’ll share insights on how our community works and how to contribute where you can.
A lot of fun! We hope the tutorial is not only informative but fun, too.
Who Should Attend
Anyone looking to use Flux in HPC or Cloud environments: scientific computing users, software developers, system administrators, user consultants, and everyone beyond and in-between. At the end of the day, we’ll share more about Flux’s open-source practices and how to contribute to the community.
Why Should I Attend?
In the last two years, Flux has deployed on several major systems as the main scheduler (including El Capitan, the current #1 system on the Top500.) Flux is becoming a ubiquitous part of the system software stack in HPC and has a growing presence in Cloud environments. The team is excited to present how Flux works in both these worlds and get you better acquainted with how Flux fits a myriad of use cases.
