In Italy each municipality has a patronal saint.

The day of the year in which a saint is celebrated becomes a public holiday in the municipality that has such saint as its patronal saint.

Truth is, there are probably thousands of municipality and I am not sure they all have in ISO code. For example, I live in Padua (Padova) in Veneto, which is 25KM west of Venice. This page lits all the municipalities under the Padua territory https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_municipalities_of_the_Province_of_Padua

I am not sure an ISO code exists for all of them, so maybe sticking only to the main cities could be the best option.

Hi guys, I'm currently trying to implement a micro-fix but I've love to see this fixed too for a future use in wich I could have more than only my city to care about.
The only unique codes I could find for our munincipalities are the ISTAT and land registry codes.
So I guess that other than the IT- codes, the ISO standanrd won't be helpful...
But I'd suggest to use the land registry codes (codici catastali) that we also use for our social securities (ending 4 digits excluding the last one) as they're unique and already used in other contexts...

I've found a site that provides a zip of excel file with those infos

It has both the municipalities list (file "italy_cities" with Name, Province, ISTAT and land registry code)

And a file with these "Santo patrono dates" wich is not easy to extract sadly (file "italy_info" wich has istat code, city name, patrono name and date)...

But as you can see we also have exclusions because some of them are related to christian stuff or recurring specific dates, like Agliè and its 1st Sunday of July...

We do not support municipalities. I was wondering if there is information available about regions instead. Or is it too diverse for each region? Setting this up initially and maintaining it would require a lot of effort. And I think we do not have the structure at the moment.

So, sadly regional-wise not much happens.
Except for AFAIK Trentino-South Tyrol and Sardinia (wich was missing the "Sa die de sa Sardigna" regional holiday).
But yeah, excluding these municipal holidays I think the rest is more than covered

Hi we don't have the same Holiday at the regional level, however my impression is that only the Patron Saint of major city is honored.

For example I leave in Padova and I do work in a smaller municipality in the Padova area, but my employer, despite being located in the smaller municipality, observes as a holiday the day of the Patron Saint of Padova, not the day of the Patron Saint of the smaller municipality in which the office is located. And based on my empirical experience with my friends and relatives, this is the case for all of them.

In Italy we have a total of 107 "major cities" (province) https://www.tuttitalia.it/province/ and each of them has an ISO code, so given that we do not have regional-wise holidays wouldn't it make sense to use the city ISO code and support Patronal festivals instead?
