When pasting text into claude code openend in sidekick or nvim terminal, text gets mangled

Very weird problem, not even sure if it's caused by sidekick - when I paste text into the claude code running in sidekick, the text pasted gets mangled, like this:

original text: why do we have to call std::forward? why isn't the original value category of the parameter preserved automatically in a template that takes parameter T&&?

This does NOT happen when pasting into claude code running in a new standalone terminal tab:

But it also does happen when opening claude code in a toggleterm instance and the native vim terminal (ctrl + /)
It also happens only with claude code - gemini cli accepts the pasted code without it getting mangled

What could be causing this perplexing issue?

Can you update and see if that resolves it?

I'm using Claude Code with Ghostty and the issue still occurs on my end. It does not happen when running Claude directly in the terminal. Using <leader> + av to send a visual selection works fine. The problem only appears when pasting normally from the clipboard.
