Remove or enhance the Locations section

I am puzzled by the Locations page which is a drop-down under the general Maps section in the main menu.

This view seems fairly unhelpful – we really need to understand the user story here. Is it supposed to be a response to something like:

As a general user I want to be able to browse Places in the area to discover new venues and places I might like to visit or interact with?

If so, then we need to add a few controls and fields here to help people find their way around and narrow down the view. These would be a start:

• Sort list (Alpha-numeric, by date added, by other relevant fields)
• Filter list (by type of Place)

Unless @GilesGibson or Francis have a use case, then lets drop it. The current version is a hack.
