Extension causes high cpu load

Issue description:
When opening a clean VSCode and running ">SFDX "Create Project with Manifest" VS code shows "Activating Extensions" which then results to an error: The extension 'Salesforce CLI Integration' took a very long time to complete its last operation and it has prevented other extensions from running.

thanks for the cpu profile, I wasn't able to reproduce it, but I have some guesses based on where it's coming from

• does it happen every time?
• is there an org involved where objects might be slowing things down?
  • ex: when you crate the project, is there a global default org (sf config list from inside your new project folder)
  • If so, does it have a LOT of objects in it? [one of the things around that part of the code is retrieving and building ts/schema for the objects].
  • If so, there's a setting Enable-sobject-refresh-on-startup that you can uncheck to stop this from happening
