bug: shell-format stopped working after the latest update

After the most recent update of the shell-format extension in VS Code, the formatter stopped working completely, even when shell-format is set as the default formatter for Shell Script. Before this update, the extension worked normally.

Environment
VS Code: 1.107.0
OS: Linux x86_64
Extension: 7.2.8
shfmt: 3.7.0

I found the following error when the extension tries to activate:

I kept installing it, reloading window and kept hitting the format key only to install it again. this is definitely broken
