Description
The Expand Public Transit project reduces Fuel demand from Road Transport by 25%, but doesn't reduce Electricity demand for Road Transport at all. I don't think this design decision reflects the real world effects of a robust public transit network. I believe that the Expand Public Transit project should also provide a 25% reduction in Electricity demand from Road Transport.
I believe the intent behind the reduction in Fuel demand is to represent the general public reducing their use of personal vehicles, preferring instead to use the public transit networks. But personal vehicles also include EVs. The Expand Public Transit project should still provide a beneficial reduction in Electricity usage if a player decides to undertake the Electrify Road Vehicles project.
Currently, when both the Expand Public Transit and Electrify Road Vehicles projects are completed, the latter project effectively nullifies the energy savings of the former. Their combined effects currently imply that once every vehicle in the world is an EV, everyone decides to stop riding busses and metros and return to driving personal vehicles for some reason.
