ASN info in text output

Sorry for opening an issue, but there are no discussions available for this project.

For network diagnostic the AS numbers are often important, but they are only shown in the TUI. Btw, a separate column instead of prepending it in the hostname field would be great.

Thus we can't send a report to others unless we do a screenshot, which is something I hate doing for text info.

Please make the ASN available as a column (automatically shown when -z is used) in the text output (all non-TUI formats).

e.g. someone asked me to run mtr -T -P 22 -rwzc 10 IP. Since I don't have it installed I wanted to use trip instead, but couldn't since the info required was not available via -m pretty/markdown.

Ideally, all data available would be included in all of the reporting modes and these could be configured, much as they can be in the Tui today.

Yes that is reasonable. The same could be said for several other data items (such as GeoIp) which are currently shown in the fixed hostname column. Ideally each of these would exist as standalone columns and the hostname column could be fully customised.

There is an existing issue for this as well (mostly covering the latter part): #758

I'll see if I can make time to work on these before the next release.

I actually saw issue #1565, but I thought that it was too general. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, but I guess implementing it will take much longer than just adding one more column to the text output, when using -z.

I think the ASN is currently not its own column but rather prepended to the host string. I also like the idea of #758. Do you want to create columns "within" the host column, or separate columns on the level above?

e.g. o currently stands for host. do you want to create a new setting what columns are shown for host (and their order), or do you want to create new letters for the existing setting?

@tessus i'm opening to adding the additional columns for the parts currently "within" the host column as an interim step before #758. However, adding these to the various reports is not ideal before doing #1565 as it would be a breaking change.

I'll prioritise adding new columns (#1689) and then allowing for them to be added to the reports (#1565).

In #758 I will likely leave o as-is and introduce a new (non-default) column that renders a custom "format string" which can include any/all data that Trippy has.
