start building container edition

Hey

What do we need to start with building the container edition?
It's a long time I'm waiting for it and I want to contribute to have a container version.

Hi @irLinja, yes it's been a long time and unfortunately I haven't gotten around to do it all this time. But @Envek has been maintaining an unofficial container edition at https://github.com/evilmartians/fullstaq-ruby-docker and has been doing a great job. I'm thinking about just designating that project as "official". What do you think @Envek, would you like to join us under the same umbrella?

Hey! Thank you for kind words and invitation to join! This is a great honor for me.

We can definitely move these dockerfiles and images (aka “martian unofficial container edition”) over here, but I don’t have the capacity to improve it further. Currently, I only have time to bump Ruby versions from time to time, and that’s it.

These docker images were quickly crafted to play with Fullstaq Ruby in Kubernetes. While at least a few projects are running them in production for years without issues, that unofficial container edition will probably require some effort to enhance it up to official grade, to meet all users’ needs. But I personally can’t afford any more maintenance burden, sorry.

Understood and that's fine with me. I'm in the same position as you, resource-wise. People have been wanting a container edition for a while now and I figure having anything is better than nothing. As for improving things further, we can always do that when in the future time allows. Or we can clearly document what more needs to be done and hope people contribute.

Maybe promote the current unofficial one and then write a to-do.
I want to contribute but don't have that much capacity. Let’s do this, and if the community is interested, they will take care of the rest.
