Description
Use Cases
Danmoeum (단모음) is an alternative Korean keyboard layout designed to be more comfortable, ergonomic, and fast.
It’s simple — you double tap a consonant or vowel to type its double version, without needing the Shift key.
For example:
ㄱ → ㄲ
ㄷ → ㄸ
ㅗ → ㅛ
ㅜ → ㅠ
This is how Danmoeum works on Samsung Keyboard (Korean) and Gboard, where it feels very natural and smooth to type.
In FUTO, though, there’s a Shift key for double letters — but that’s not the real issue.
The problem is that double tapping vowels doesn’t work at all, even though that’s a core part of how Danmoeum is supposed to function.
Double tapping consonants works perfectly, but vowels don’t change unless you press Shift, which breaks the typing flow.
✅ Double tap works correctly for:
ㄱ → ㄲ
ㄷ → ㄸ
ㅂ → ㅃ
ㅅ → ㅆ
ㅈ → ㅉ
❌ Double tap doesn’t work for:
ㅗ → ㅛ
ㅐ → ㅒ
ㅔ → ㅖ
ㅓ → ㅕ
ㅏ → ㅑ
ㅜ → ㅠ
Proposal
Proposal
Make vowels respond to double taps the same way consonants do — for example, ㅗ → ㅛ or ㅏ → ㅑ — without requiring the Shift key.
Alternatively, add two layout options:
Standard Danmoeum – double tap for all double letters.
Shift Danmoeum – keeps the Shift key for users who prefer it.
This would preserve the ergonomic and fast typing style Danmoeum is designed for.
