Date specific rules

How would you go about setting roster creation rules by date? For example I'd like to be able to add a list of certain days where a specific skill mix is required, or a list of days when the roster should remain empty (general day off). Is there any way to achieve this?

Yes, you can certainly do that. It works via day numbers rather than specific dates. When you create "Shifts", you assign a "Day Group". So let's say that you have a 14 day roster and weekends should remain empty. Assuming your roster period starts on a Monday, you would create a "Day Group" with days 1 to 5 and 8 to 12 (and perhaps name it "Week Days"). Then you assign this "Day Group" to any "Shifts" that you create. Then you create a "Skill Mix" that specifies the type of staff required for each shift type. You can create multiple "Skill Mix" rules and apply them to one "Shift". When the roster is generated it will choose one of the "Skill Mix" rules that have been created for each shift. I was referring more to rules for specific date. Say I have a list of dates like May 5th, July 4th, December 25th and want to set specific rules for those like either a) a specific skill mix or b) no shifts at all.

Is this currently only possible by eg setting the period to 28 days and then editing the day groups on a regular basis?

Yes, currently you would have the ongoing task of adjusting the Day Groups at the start of each roster period. You would also have the once only task of creating Day Groups, Shifts and Skill Mix Rules for those special days. It would be nice to eliminate the need for regular manual editing of Day Groups so this is something I will consider adding as a new feature.
