Speed up the start time

Hi, our website has a lot of content/pages, start the site in localhost takes several minutes, due to the API calls, etc.
I'm wondering if Gatsby it's able to do some sort of hot start (or whatever it is called), basically create pages on demand (at least in localhost).

I don't know if that make sense, but during development I usually work on a single page, and I don't want to create thousands of them for no reason.

Any help would be really valuable!
