Can't locate ip address

Noob here. I followed the install directions and everything seemed to go smoothly. I edited the config.yml and inventory.ini files to change ip address, user name, password, etc. as indicated. When I attempt to access 192.168.1.XX:3030, the ip address added to inventory.ini file, I receive the following:

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.XX:3030.

I'd appreciate any guidance.

Hey Stephen,

I am by no means an expert, but I'll can try to help. :) If you run sudo docker container ls do you see a "grafana/grafana" image running? They first time or two I tried to build using this project, I had several issues getting the grafana container to build correctly. Running that command lets you see what docker containers are currently running and can be a good place to start for if it is even working to begin with.

Hi, Caleb: You are correct that I did not know if the docker container was running. With your help and running google searches for every error that I encountered (I don't know why I didn't think of that before), I have grafana running! Pie-hole isn't running yet, but I'll get it eventually. Does this package allow me to track individual users? I work from home 90% of the time and would love to see how much I use as compared to my wife and teenager. Thanks for all of your hard work. I am glad you were able to get it working! Yeah, I did a lot of googling the first time building this as well.

When you say that pi-hole is not running, do you mean that when you go to 192.168.1.XX/admin you do not see the Pi-Hole dashboard? Or you do not see it in the running docker containers or that you are still getting errors in the portion of the script that tries to create pi-hole?

If you are getting errors, I'd be happy to see if it is something I ran into and can help work around it. Or....., you might consider setting up pi-hole separate from interent-pi project. It is a pretty simple process, the installer walks you through each step, and there are tones of YouTube videos on the process. It is one of the first projects I worked on with my Pi and I think doing it on your own will probably be faster/easier then trying to troubleshoot through the layers of ansible/docker/pi-hole.

Here is a link to Pi-Hole's official start documentation (https://docs.pi-hole.net/main/basic-install/) but really I would recommend this YouTube video walk-through (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnFtWsZ8IP0). Jeff (different Jeff from Geerling) walks though setting up both Pi-hole and a Recursive DNS server for better privacy.

Not really in terms of amount of data. If you check a device's IP address, you could get an idea of the number of DNS requests. It would look something like this:

This is more designed to monitor your Internet Service Provider so that you have an idea of your real world internet speed vs how much you are paying for. To track internet devices on your network and how much data they are consuming, they only way I know to do that is by setting up your own firewall such as pfsense or untangle, to name two options.
