Replacement of variables in our binaries.ini is failing when the PATH of a users contains e.g. "$"

To be confirmed.
In a tutorial on a participant's Ubuntu 18.04 there was an error in line

The reason in the title was our best guess but I am not sure if the PATH of a user is considered at all.
