A "turn off the on-screen buttons" setting

I love to use the volume buttons to count, but the screen has to be on when using the app. With the buttons being quite large, it's easy to accidentally touch one of the 2 on-screen buttons. A simple "turn off the on-screen buttons" buttons would be great for people who use the app with the hardware buttons exclusively.
