Steps to Reproduce

1. Trigger this:

import * as Sentry from '@sentry/react-native';

Sentry.captureMessage("Test Message");

2. View issue in Issue Tab
   
3. View JSON

I think this could be related to getsentry/sentry#86773

Expected Result

The event.type is "default"

Actual Result

The event.type is "error"

This wasn't occurring when we were on version 5.33.1, I wonder if this change + having attachStacktrace: true is making the issue

When attachStacktrace: false, the event.type correctly reports as "default"

Thank you for the message @tnortman-jabra since the cause of this issue is the same as getsentry/sentry#86773 I will close this in favor of getsentry/sentry#86773
