SentrySDK for Unity on VisionOS

What problem could Sentry solve that it doesn't?

Currently when using the sentry-unity package on VisionOS sentry does not do anything. The framework itself does support VisionOS in an experimental state. At a first glance I could see that extra files like dlls of the package are not imported for VisionOS, see the Sentry.Unity.iOS.dll:

Is there a specific reason for that or could sentry-unity also support VisionOS?

Hey @caeser501. thanks for reaching out! It's a bit more work than checking that checkbox but the pieces are already there.

I'll summarize the open points:

Inside the BuildCocoaSdk target we're calling the setup-cocoa-sdk.ps1

sentry-unity/Directory.Build.targets

That script is responsible for downloading the most current version of the Cocoa SDK and split it so that the Unity SDK can "ingest it".
What's left to do is

• Figure out what Unity exports when targeting visionOS. And Xcode project like for iOS? Does it do that hidden like when targeting macOS?
• Depending on that we'd need to:
  • Extend what's happening inside of Sentry.Unity.Editor.iOS to also apply to visionOS and take the bridge with it.
  • Extend SentryNativeCocoa to handle visionOS

• Extend setup-cocoa-sdk.ps1 to handle the xros part of the xcframework like of iOS and macOS
• Copy that artifact - either a .framework or maybe just a dylib inside of package-dev/Plugins/visionOS
