Allow setting download directory (instead of using browser default)

I have tried both Safari and Firefox versions of the extension, and it both, there is no clear way to configure the SingleFile destination folder independent of the browser's set download folder. Even when specifying what looks like an absolute path in the name template, the path is created relative to the download folder.

Can SingleFile get a preference field where we can select the default destination for SingleFile downloads? (Alternatively, SingleFile can detect whether the name template contains a relative or absolute path and act accordingly.)

SingleFile Companion Lite seems to have this capability, but it is not usable with Safari (and has some bugs that make it hard to use with Firefox).

Unfortunately, it's technically impossible. Browsers do not allow extensions to save pages outside the Download folders. The simplest option, I guess, would be to run a WebDAV server on your machine and save pages via this server. You can easily create a symbolic link folder in the Download folder as a work around solution. The symbolic link folder could be linked to any folder out of the Download folder and sync all the files in it.
