It takes a long time to recover from a network outage #543

Describe the bug
When I have a session running and then close my laptop to move to a different location, it takes a really long time to recover from that and reconnect. If an existing command was running, it does not seem to recover at all. If the connection was idle then it takes a while before the cli has reconnected and i can start typing commands again.
A cold start of the cli works, but I am trying to not lose my thread and context. It would be nice if the cli was more resilient to these kind of network changes.

Steps to reproduce the behavior
While working, close laptop, wait a minute to let WiFi expire, open laptop and try to continue working.
Expected behavior
State is saved, cli remembers what it was doing and reconnects after a network failure. WIthout a need to restart.
