How to use "AssignCodingAgent" prompt (GitHub MCP Server) in another MCP client?

When I install the GitHub MCP Server into tools other than GitHub Copilot or the GitHub Copilot Coding Agent, it doesn't seem to work correctly. Are there any documents, videos, or use cases that could help me understand this prompt resource?

Hi, @doggy8088 if you type / into VS Code with Copilot Agent Mode, you can then get a list of Prompts available to your agent like slash commands, and those are then available as messages to send to the agent (and can be edited first). Not all tools implement prompts, and may implement them in different ways.

I have a few versions of GitHub MCP installed while I build it, but this is my experience.

It then asks for a repo/owner argument and fills out the template and returns it.

As an example, this is what it generates:

Generally the goal of Prompts is to provide guidance for doing preset tasks to help use the MCP server. GitHub MCP doesn't make extensive use of them, and it might be an interesting idea to help more users understand what is possible.
