Storhaug unable to send dbus commands to ganesha when using default service file

Error given is below. Ganesha's default service file is registering via commend in a service file, and not through a conf file.

@icebal : it seems to issue to related to packaging again, that file should be part of nfs-ganesha package.

so update on this, as i moved my nodes to ubuntu to better test setups. the file is laid down via the package to /etc/dbus-1/system.d but never registers as a system. i have rebooted the server, reloaded dbus, i have moved the file to /etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.ganesha.nfsd.conf to make sure it is in line with the rest, but on 6 different ubuntu servers, dbus never works. i have even tried changing the policy inside to default instead of root, no go. let me know what other steps i need to try :)

edit: speaking of packages issues, storhaug package for ubuntu doesnt have ctdb as a dependency :)

I have the same issue on two fresh installs of CentOS 7.6. File exists where it should be but the service is not registered. I have rebooted both systems multiple times trying different fixes. Shared storage exists and is working. The export conf file is generated. Tried with firewalld and selinux disabled with the same results.

For CentOS7 make sure you're using centos-release-gluster41. If the file exists but you still get the dbus error check Ganesha is running.

Fedora (and thus CentOS, RHEL, etc.) packaging guidelines say that services are not to be automatically enabled when a package is installed. (I imagine Debian and Ubuntu have similar guidelines.)

On CentOS you should be able to use any centos-release-gluster{4*,5}. If that's not the case then open an issue here.

I'm having the exact same issue and have been pulling my hair out trying to find a solution, nothing seems to be working. I was able to get storhaug set up without any problems for GlusterFS but continue to receive this same error message:

I am running the latest version of CentOS 7 with all required packages installed. Restarting dbus via "systemctl restart messagebus" does nothing. The config file is correctly placed in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.ganesha.nfsd.conf and I am using packages from centos-release-gluster41. Has anyone found a solution for this?

Same here on fresh debian buster. /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nfs-ganesha-dbus.conf is here, but dbus doesn't seem to use it...
