GDTour is an interactive tour through Godot.

I thought about doing a port of it to Nim.

Let me know, what you think of it, and if you are interested to contribute to that process. 🙂

It would mean to port these files and you can see the project in action here.

P.S: And just to be noted:
There is a whole framework behind this, so if we feel fancy, it could also be an unique tour, but I dont see a need for this.

Just good to know, that this is actually flexible, and could be extended one way or another.

Thank you for your suggestion.
I’m relatively positive about it, but there are challenges beyond just the porting process.
Currently, the only way to preview or edit Nim source code is through an external editor, it's not possible to view it within the Godot editor itself.
Because of this, we'll likely need to revise parts of the tutorial to guide users to focus on the external editor when necessary.

Yes, I can see that. I consider using GDTerm (and Helix) for that reason.
It would allow us to have a terminal (instead of the scripting editor) and host Nim in Helix or another terminal based editor.

Will helix be bundled? I think less (*sh) or Out-Host -Paging (PowerShell) can be used as alternatives.

So, let's start by forking gdtour to godot-nim.
I will be in charge of the porting, so I would like to leave the tutorial part (GDExtension support) to you. This idea can be applied to other language communities, so I think it would be ideal for you to lay the foundation for it.

However, helix is not installed on all users' PCs. It is troublesome to have to install helix in addition to GDTour in order to start using it.
In that case, shouldn't we prioritize ease of getting started over editing functions?

That points to modifying GDTour for GDExtension. More specifically, this involves changing the focus from Script during the tour to GDTerm, adding tutorials in accordance with the context of GDExtension (classes are added as purely new classes rather than scripts, and then Add Node, etc).
