There are a lot of great changes in 4.0 milestone and I'm very happy with it. However, I would like to point out some problems.
Major releases are needed not only for significant changes in the core of the engine, but also for making backward incompatible changes that may not be very big, but necessary and/or desirable.
Now that Godot is approaching the release of 4.0, many contributors are trying to make changes that might otherwise be delayed until Godot 5.0. And thus 4.0 is delayed a little more, and this continues for some time.
I would like major releases to come out more often in the future, not once every 3-5 years, but about once a year (however, releases would still be tied to progress, not to the calendar). This would be convenient for both contributors and users, since fixing a few backwards incompatible changes is much easier than switching from Godot 3 to Godot 4, even with the converter.
I understand that the size and content of Godot releases depends on the needs of the community. And that most likely in the future major releases will make fewer changes in a natural way, due to the laws of the software life cycle. But perhaps understanding this will help us to better focus on it.
