Right now, the Scene pane has a context menu that has an item for Add Child Node. When you activate this command, via the menu item or the [+] button at the top of the pane, the Create New Node dialog appears and it has a Recent: area for for recently used Nodes.
I believe it would be useful to add a dynamic submenu under the Add Child Node menu item that lists the last 10 (or configurable) recently used Nodes. Or even make the whole thing a submenu with something like a "Choose..." option at the top and recent Nodes under it.
This saves the time of having to open the menu and then navigate to the desired node and activate it. (Keep Fitts Law in mind when designing UI features ). This could also be a feature of the [+] button via press-and-hold behavior which would show the dynamic menu once the hold is satisfied, but I am not sure how easy the UI system can support that kind of user action and how it would communicate feedback. (I would suggest a growing swirl/circle on the button itself, which I find is a common way to indicate press-and-hold behavior in modern games.)
I searched for "Recent Nodes" and got nothing applicable to this issue.
