App laggy since October 8th 2025 update of 'Google Play Services for AR'

SPECIFIC ISSUE ENCOUNTERED

I see a decrease of my app ratings since October 8th, 2025 (approximately 0.2 pts of decrease) whereas I didn't submit any update of my app.

According to the Google Play comments, it seems that this decrease of the app rating is due to the fact that the AR session in my app is laggy on many devices since October 8th, 2025. The tests on my 4 Samsung devices confirm that I have lags on these three devices ; I didn't have lags before.

I see that 'Google Play Services for AR' has been updated on October 8th, 2025 ; I suspect this update to have induced this lag issue.

Maybe there is a link between this ticket and this other ticket : #1750

Note that the lag is induced by:

aAnchor = mSession.createAnchor(aPose)

I execute this line of code on each frame to create an anchor and this anchor is detached on the next frame (so I don't create a huge number of anchors). Randomly, this anchor creation is very long (several 100 ms). How to solve this issue ? (I think this issue didn't exist or was much less frequent before the October 8th 2025 update). Similar issue here: #1722 (ticket created in April 2025 but it seems that nobody answered before November 2025 => something happened in October)

• Android Studio: Android Studio Narwhal 3 Feature Drop | 2025.1.3
• ARCore SDK for Android: 1.47.0 to 1.52.0, probably also on earlier versions
• Device manufacturer, model, and O/S: at least Samsung but probably other suppliers and models
• Google Play Services for AR (ARCore): 1.51.x and higher-

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE

1. No update of my app
2. App became suddenly laggy on October 8th, 2025 on aAnchor = mSession.createAnchor(aPose)
3. No solution found through modifications in my app

What are the modifications of 'Google Play Services for AR' v1.51 ? Any changes in the default parameters of the AR Session ? Other modifications ?
