Models that can be used in Gemini CLI

Hi, I just wanted to ask for the list of models that are compatible with Gemini CLI. because some preview models are working and some are not, so i just wanted to ask for the official list of models that are compatible.

We only build the CLI against the Gemini 2.5 series of models. You are welcome to try out others, I've even seen people claim success with 1.5 Flash but the 2.5 models are what we recommend.

There are differences in how the models perform too, e.g. 2.5 tends to be better at generating diffs than previous models (a personal observation), so you might see degraded edit support on older models.
