But obviously big companies are always arrogant. It seems like Google thinks the profits from running these things aren't even close to what they could make by just burning through resources. |

Hey Google/Gemini Team!
It seems the Gemini CLI has recently been upgraded with a flawless, 100% reliable new feature: the "This is taking a bit longer, we're still on it" timeout loop. (And kudos on the rollout—it’s working globally, even for us Ultra users!)
Jokes aside, as developers, we completely understand the motivation to tighten up OAuth routing and tiering access. Even if OpenAI prefers the "bring your own frontend" approach, it's fair that Google wants to secure its own ecosystem. Infrastructure is hard, deployments sometimes go sideways, and it looks like the new global rate limits are just a little too enthusiastic right now. We've all pushed a bad config to production!
But what's really stinging the community right now isn't the downtime—it's the absolute radio silence.
We know you're incredibly busy building the future of AI, but could someone spare just a few tokens to drop a status update? Gemini is a massive brand with huge potential, but leaving your developer community sitting in the dark is a tough way to build trust.
A quick "Hey, we broke the routing, we're fixing it" goes a massively long way. We are rooting for you, but we'd love to know someone is steering the ship!
From the highly rate-limited (but hopeful) developer community
