I want to be able to post from clipboard to CLI

Gemini thinks it can but all of my efforts have failed to post from clipboard to CLI.

Aider was more intuitive in terms of CLI based LLM assistant. Gemni Cli is painful. Let's see how it will improve.

For me, if the text contains the line feed characters like (CR, LF, ‘/r’, ‘/n’) could be parsed as multiple inputs to gemini-cli…

I’ve heard ‘Ctrl+x’ on the input window will open notepad.exe which title is ‘buffer.txt’ and if you close that file then the buffer will be transferred to your input terminal window.

This hack saves me now!

Line feeds being treated as multiple inputs is a bug which I believe we have fixed. Please let me know if you are still experiencing that issue with the latest Gemini CLI.

it is parsed as multiple EOLs but as single turn to Gemini CLI (luckily). I can just paste to my heart content. But if smth be more complicated I just paste it to .md file and have Gemini (or any AI) read it instead.
I also do not see the problem of the author of this original post.

For years in all my Unixes (half of them teminator mostly, granted, but also some bespoke text GUIs) I have been using Shift+Ctrl+V. The easiest is to ... ask Gemini how to.

¡I just ran a spontaneous real-world test using Gemini CLI + Termux on Android, and successfully passed content from the clipboard into a functional workflow.

Here's how I did it:

1. I used termux-clipboard-get to copy a plan (written in natural language) from my clipboard and saved it into a .txt file.

termux-clipboard-get > plan.txt

2. Then, I launched Gemini CLI and gave it a single instruction:

"Analyze the content of this file and execute the plan."

3. Gemini CLI parsed the natural-language flow, asked for permission step-by-step, and executed real termux-api commands like:

termux-dialog

termux-tts-speak

termux-vibrate

termux-brightness

termux-camera-photo

termux-location

4. Later I did the same with a live API response (curl to a PIM or e-commerce endpoint), and Gemini parsed product titles and extracted vehicle compatibilities.

✨ No plugins, no wrappers — just natural language → clipboard → autonomous execution.

📷 I even recorded it in action and shared it on YouTube + LinkedIn as a working demo.

This shows how powerful Gemini CLI becomes when combined with shell tools and local APIs like termux-api. Highly recommend trying it with Termux on Android!

Quick tip, almost on Termux itself: it can also termux-sensor, termux-camera, termux-sms or call, so e.g. you can have an intelligent photo 📸 trap that e.g. also 📲 calls home 🏠 with live and intelligent TTS reports or orchestration...
