What is Extenstions

I noticed there's an /extensions option or reference in Gemini CLI, but it appears to be empty.

Could anyone help me understand:

1. What exactly is /extensions in the context of Gemini CLI?
   

2. What's its purpose or intended functionality?
   

3. How can I add or use extensions with it?
   

I’d appreciate some guidance on how to get started with writing or enabling extensions if that's supported.
