Clarification on Daily Request Limit

I'm getting this error after just 25 model requests. Is this the intended behavior? I thought it was advertised that there would be 1,000 requests per day?

In my response here, I'm going to assume you're using Gemini CLI as a "free" user using your personal gmail account to authenticate. Current quota is for 1000 model requests per day, yes, but that does not currently mean 1000 Gemini 2.5 Pro model requests per day.

As to hitting the Pro quota limit at 25 model requests, that should not be happening. Please note that a prompt entry does not necessarily equate to "one model request". A single prompt could actually trigger dozens of model requests (API calls).

The quota for both free and paid subscription users is changing, as we work through Gemini 2.5 Pro capacity internally. It's relatively low now for Gemini 2.5 Pro but we are working to increase this for both free and paid subscription users in the near future.

Ah, thanks for the clarification this wasn’t clearly mentioned in the documentation. It stated that Gemini 2.5 Pro can be used for free, so I assumed the 1,000 requests applied specifically to that model.
Anyway, I appreciate the explanation. I’d recommend updating the documentation to make this clearer and help avoid confusion for others in the future. Thanks again for building such an amazing tool!

I think we need a reboot of our documentation in this area once we get everything lined up better internally. Hopefully that will be in the relatively near future. We totally understand how this can all be very confusing from a user's standpoint.
